- Set up a series of heavy implements (such as logs, barrels, or atlas stones) beside a staircase or a set of raised platforms arranged in ascending height order.
- Stand behind the first implement with your feet shoulder-width apart, hinge at the hips and bend your knees to grip the implement firmly with both hands.
- Drive through your legs and hips explosively to deadlift the implement off the ground, pulling it up to hip height.
- Using a combination of momentum and upper body strength, load the implement onto the first step or platform by driving it forward and upward.
- Re-grip the implement, drive through your legs again, and load it onto the next step or platform, continuing up the staircase as quickly as possible.
- Maintain a braced core and neutral spine throughout each lift to protect your lower back under heavy load.
- Complete all steps with the implement or repeat for the required number of implements or time, then reset and prepare for the next attempt.
